By this stage in a career, savvy physicians who saved early and invested well are working only because they want to. They are already financially independent and could stop at any time.

1. Determine Why You Are Working

If you are FI, it is time to cancel your term life and disability insurance. If not, make sure your life insurance policy will last until you are.

2. Evaluate Life and Disability Insurance Needs

While term life insurance gets more expensive as you age, if you are in reasonably good health and only need a five or 10-year policy, it is still usually affordable.

This may also be a good time to simplify your portfolio. You can do this in two ways – by reducing the number of investment accounts and reducing the number of investments.
