Eligibility Requirements
You are eligible to apply for a scholarship if you meet the following criteria:
Currently Enrolled in a Medical School
Full-time students in their 2nd year or later residing in the United States or Canada
Display Worthy Academic Standing
Applicants must prove stellar academic standing
Complete Application Form
Students must submit a complete application form containing accurate information
Essay Requirements
Students enrolled full-time in a professional medical school in the United States can participate. Applicants must display good academic standing. Furthermore applicants:
- Must reside in the U.S or Canada
- In their 2nd year or beyond of enrollment
- Provide updated transcripts IF shortlisted
ONLY students may apply.
Our application submission link will need basic details like your name, residence, email address, etc. You must also submit a 1000-1200 word essay in English. Essays that do not meet the word count will be automatically disqualified. We do not accept email submissions.
Winning essays and the top 5 contenders will be featured in Physician on FIRE’s featured posts, which are sent to thousands of physicians in the U.S. Students are also asked to include a picture and bio for publication purposes.
Applications are open from November 1st, 2024 through January 30th, 2025. It is best to submit applications well before the deadline.
All information shared with Physician on FIRE is confidential. We reserve the right to use student information to grant credit for authorship.
As stated above, your essay must fall between 1000 – 1200 words. The essay must have to do with an issue in the medical community, an inspiring story about your medical journey, or physician finance.
Any essays written using AI or plagiarised will be immediately disqualified. Please proofread your submission. The content, quality of writing, and message will be evaluated to select the top contenders.
Winners will be announced in the last week of January.
The selection committee consists of a panel of five judges who will decide on the best five essays submitted. These five essays will be published on our website for our Facebook community to vote on. You may be contacted for a brief interview post-selection.
To prevent any conflicts of interest, all judges will be anonymous to applicants and each other. The essay to gain the most votes will be publicly awarded the scholarship.
