The Sunday Best is a collection of articles I’ve curated from the furthest reaches of the internet for your reading pleasure.
Every week, I scan hundreds of headlines, read dozens of posts, and bring you the best of the best to save you time and mental energy.
Financial Independence (FI) is a primary focus, but it’s an awfully broad topic. I tend to approach FI and early retirement from a fatFIRE perspective and through the lens of a physician, so expect to see those biases in the selected articles.
Related topics that have become recurrent themes include early retirement, selective frugality, tax issues, travel, physician issues, and of course, investing.

You Down with DLP?
Yeah, you know me!
In April of 2019, I invested $50,000 into the DLP Lending Fund. Their minimum investment at the time was $250,000, but by joining an access fund with other investors’ pooled money, I was able to get in with a smaller amount. It has reliably paid a roughly 10% annual return in monthly installments after fees, which would be lower if I had invested directly with DLP.
When I made my investment, I had no financial relationship with DLP, but — full disclosure — as a happy investor for 25 months now, I am pleased to share more about them with you as a paid advertiser.
In 2021, DLP Capital Partners has lowered their minimums for my readers to $100,000 to invest in either the lending fund mentioned above or the DLP Housing Fund, an equity fund in the form of an “evergreen” private REIT that targets 12%+ returns. This may be my next RE investment once our house is sold. More on that below.
Don Wenner, the founder and CEO of DLP, invites you to join him this coming Thursday, May 6 at 6PM EDT for a Q1 Performance & Virtual Dinner event.
He and his team plan to share Q1 performance results as well as a glimpse into the future of DLP and the purpose-driven path their team is forging, sharing exclusive insight into how investing with DLP Capital Partners can help you and others dream, live and prosper.
What To Expect:
- DLP Capital Partners’ Q1 Performance
- DLP Funds overview and outlook
- Learn about DLP Capital Partners’ efforts to help address the affordable housing crisis
- Roundtable discussion with Don and other internal thought leaders on DLP Capital Partners’ future in Impact Investing
- …and much more!
Tune in on Thursday to learn more about true passive investing with a successful team managing billions of dollars’ worth of real estate on your behalf!

Selling Our House
OK, one more real estate segment before we part ways this week. We’ve been splitting time between places this week, preparing our new place to be move-in ready while cleaning up and staging our little house in town.
I’ll write up a full post on our FSBO adventures after we’ve sold our places, but for a sneak peek at what we’ve got and how I’ve listed it, see my Craigslist listing. It’s also up on local Facebook Marketplace groups and will soon be posted to Zillow.
This is the home we purchased in August of 2019 for $90,000.
Wish us luck!
Have an outstanding week!

Thanks, as always!
Hey PoF! As always, thanks a ton for mentioning us in this week’s Sunday Best! It’s meaningful and helps us extend our reach–maybe convincing other folks to consider getting into DAFs, improve their personal financial situation, etc.
Cheers!
Leif,
Thanks for including me in your Sunday best. It’s always an honor.
