The Sunday Best is a collection of articles I’ve curated from the furthest reaches of the internet for your reading pleasure.
Every week, I scan hundreds of headlines, read dozens of posts, and bring you the best of the best to save you time and mental energy.
Financial Independence (FI) is a primary focus, but it’s an awfully broad topic. I tend to approach FI and early retirement from a fatFIRE perspective and through the lens of a physician, so expect to see those biases in the selected articles.
Related topics that have become recurrent themes include early retirement, selective frugality, tax issues, travel, physician issues, and of course, investing.

A Few Changes This Week
Instead of publishing new material this week, I sent a 5-day “welcome series” of emails to subscribers new and old. I realized that I’ve done a poor job of orienting new readers to the website, so I wanted to have a uniform way of letting people know who I am and what this site is all about.
If you’d like to receive those emails, you can sign up for them here.
I also made a new logo this week. I was planning to hire it out, but playing around a bit with Photoshop, I came up with this.
That’ll look good on a tee shirt, don’t you think?
I also updated the look on the homepage again. The featured posts seemed really scrunched together (on desktop / laptop), so I put two side-by-side to make that section look just like the new posts that follow. I also created featured images for those posts that match the newer ones with the logo.
Finally, I worked behind the scenes to improve site speed. That should give you a better experience as you click around, and Google likes fast websites. I was happy with the back-end changes that have made a significant impact in how quickly things load for you here.
