Are you sending your kids into the world blind to your finances? Here is why a full-disclosure family meeting is the greatest safety net you can give them.

1 in 3 parents plan to divide the inheritance unequally among their kids — and, frankly, that could be a smart way to do it, pros say.

Are Trump Accounts Worth It? Everything You Need to Know and Act on

Most people’s dreams are not gated by money. Sure you need some money, but you probably don’t need as much as you might imagine. You most likely don’t need multi-million dollars to start your dream.

The Trump administration is preparing to propose a rule to address the definition of “employer” as it pertains to health plans offered by associations. Depending on the specifics of the proposal, it could potentially lower costs for certain self-employed workers who currently get coverage through the ACA marketplace.

It’s a myth that everyone had a pension in the past. Pension plans for private sector workers were a one-time anomaly. Fewer than 40% of workers had a pension when the 401k was concoted. Is it perfect? No, but the 401k has been a success.

The most interesting thing I’ve read this week: The Nine Circles of Financial Hell.

We’ve turned hobbies into “side hustles” and skills we can sermonise to the world about. Even something as simple as rest is now called “recovery.” By other people’s measuring stick, we’ve slowly made uselessness something we now have to apologise for.

Let’s talk money: How much is enough? Why can you have more than you ever expected and still worry? And what does wealth actually do to your state of mind?

Goodbye, Dolly Parton. We will always love you.

When physicians negotiate a new contract, especially their first attending job, almost all of the attention goes to one number: base salary. It makes sense. But what many doctors fail to realize is that salary is only one component of total compensation.

The Deduction You Still Qualify For

Past a certain income, your deductions stop existing. Your accountant quits suggesting things and starts reporting them.

Income from certain real estate funds dodges that. Structured right, it earns a 20% deduction, dragging the top federal rate on that income from 37% to 29.6%. That’s $740 more in your pocket per $10,000. Run it across six figures of distributions and you’ve bought back a moonlighting shift.

Tax treatment ranks third for me. A gorgeous tax rate on a loss is still a loss, so capital protection goes first: where I sit in the stack, how much equity the borrower has ahead of me, what happens when a project stalls. Cash flow is second, and it should hit monthly, not in some future liquidity event a sponsor describes with lots of hand-waving.

Private lending is where I found all three under one roof. Christy Burakovsky, PharmD, and Chris Lopez invested with these lenders before building funds around them. They’ll show you what to ask about a fund’s structure before your wire leaves, including what determines whether that 20% deduction actually reaches you.
